The Global Forum on Cervical Cancer Prevention, which concluded Monday, May 27th, has made the Opening and Closing Plenaries available for the public’s viewing. The Forum, which was a part of Women Deliver 2013, aimed to increase support for comprehensive cervical cancer prevention programs and accelerate prevention efforts.

Cervical Cancer Action (CCA) has released updated global maps of progress in visual inspection (VIA) for cervical cancer screening, HPV DNA testing and HPV vaccination. Information for the maps was collected through interviews with individuals and organizations in the countries represented. As programs are ever-changing, CCA is always looking for initiative updates and changes in order to gather an accurate representation of the progress in each country.

The GAVI Alliance has announced a deal with Merck and GlaxoSmithKline that dramatically reduces the price of HPV vaccines in less developed countries. In these countries, the price of Gardasil has been reduced to $4.50 (USD) per dose, and Cervarix to $4.60 per dose.
